Tips & Tricks

This is some tips and tricks I have received, seen, or come up with on my own. I am not encouraging others to follow these, some of these can be dangerous to your help. Those that want these tips and tricks, you are welcome to do with them what you wish. 

Hiding Your Disorder:

Doctors Office -

  1. Drink more water so you weigh more and it will just be water weight. 
  2. If your hair is long and you can put your hair in a bun, put rolls of coins in the bun that are well hidden. 
  3. Wear heavy clothes, so even when they make you take off your shoes, you still weight more (about three pounds). Or wear layers of clothes. 
  4. This one is a little risky, only do if you know the doctor will leave the room before the exam but after being weighed. Wear baggy clothes to the appointment and in your pockets that can't really be seen put rolls of coins in your pockets. Wear weights on your ankles as well. 
  5. Make sure that you take vitamins so you are deficient if they test your blood.  
From Family & Friends - 

  1. Clear your computer history! I cannot stress this enough!
  2. If you keep a journal of what you eat, your exercise, your thoughts, thinspo, quotes, tips and tricks, etc, hide that as well! 
  3. In the morning, wake up late so that you don't have time to eat breakfast. 
  4. At night, go to bed early so you skip dinner.
  5. Say you're ill, running late, already ate, about to eat, or say you're not hungry when people ask you to eat something when you're with them. 
  6. Take food to your room and when you're in there throw away the food in your garbage. After a while take your plate out and/or wrappers out and leave them out on the counter, in the sink, or the wrappers at the top of the kitchen garbage so parents/roommates see them. 
  7. When no one is home or they are busy, take the trash from your room and put it in the garbage can outside, so the food doesn't mold and no one finds it. 
  8. Don't talk about your diet or how you think you're fat.
  9. If you take diet pills, put them in a vitamin bottle so people don't know that you're taking them. 
  10. Say you just brushed your teeth and it will make the food taste gross. 
  11. Hide your thoughts and practices from the beginning. Once someone thinks you have an eating disorder, it will be hard to convince them otherwise. 
  12. Don't talk about food. If you talk about food, people will know it is on your mind. 
  13. Don't show off weight loss until you reach a weight you are comfortable with staying at for some time.
  14. When eating with people, "accidentally" put too much salt, pepper, or something like that on your food and say it doesn't taste good now. 
Some Excuses - 

  • I already ate
  • I don't feel well
  • I ate at ________ house. 
  • I'm about to go to ______ house to eat. 
  • I don't really like ___________.
  • Just say no thank you. 
Losing Weight:

  1. Never eat after 7:00pm. You need to give your body time to metabolize the food. Your body's metabolism slows down as you sleep. 
  2. Don't eat before 7:00am. If you don't eat after 7:00pm and wait until after 7:00am then you will be doing a twelve hour fast. In one year, it will be like you have fasted for half a year. 
  3. Take vitamins to maintain balance. 
  4. Drink green tea; it helps keep you full, it is very low calorie (about 2 calories per cup), and helps in burning fat. The main thing we want to lose!
  5. Don't eat food without a label on it. 
  6. Drink lots of water or other low calorie drinks. I personally love VitaRain. It has zero calories and tastes delicious. 
  7. Drink diet soda, coffee, or other low calorie drinks with caffeine. Caffeine speeds metabolism and helps with work out in endurance, less fatigue, and more rapid recovery. 
  8.   Fidget! Fidgeting burns more calories. 
  9. Sleep at least 6 hours per night.
  10. At a party, home, with friends, or when you can, turn on music and dance. People won't know that you're doing it to burn calories and it is fun!
  11. Brush your teeth after every time you eat. 
  12. Make rules for yourself. Example: only eat __ amount of calories a day, don't eat certain foods, burn double the calories you consume, etc. 
  13. When hungry, clean something gross like the bathroom toilet. 
  14. When hungry, count to 100 before finding something to eat.
  15. Exercise instead of eating.
  16. Wear weight on your ankles to burn more calories and fat in everyday activities. 
  17. Do crunches or other exercises while watching tv or during commercials. 
  18. If you do weight lifting or other muscle building activities make sure to stretch in between circuits so you build lean muscle instead of bulky muscle. 
  19. If you have to eat, with family or friends, pick a salad, without dressing. Or steamed vegetables without sauces. Or "negative" calorie foods. See bottom for list. 
  20. Shake up your work outs. Everyday or every other day switch to a new exercise. Run one day, dance the next, elliptical the next, etc. 
  21. Lemon is natural diuretic. Squeeze some in water or tea. Or eat them plain if you can handle it. 
  22. Drink ice water. It burns calories for your body to raise its temperature after drinking it. 
  23. Suck on sugar free vitamin drops to curb the urge to eat.

  • Don't swallow your food. 
  • Keep a journal/thinspiration notebook. This will keep you motivated and is a good way to keep track of calories consumed and those burned. 
  • Take a picture of yourself in your underwear. When you're hungry, look at the picture. 
  • Eat in front of the mirror. Works best if naked. 
  • Stand up and walk around at least once every hour to boost metabolism.
  • Choose one food to eat a day and cut it into four or five pieces. Eat only that food for the day. This does not include fattening food, only vegetables and fruits. Eat one piece for breakfast, one for morning snack, and so on. 
  • Keep busy as much as possible.
  • Every time you reach a goal weight, buy yourself a non food reward.
  • When you're hungry, wait five minutes and see whether you're still hungry. If so, drink tea or water.
  • Take cool showers. It will make your body burn more calories to raise your body temperature.
  • Don't eat when you're alone. It is easier to binge and overeat then. Plus you eat less when you're in front of others. 
  • Watch fat people eating. It will make you not want to be like them anymore. 

Negative Calorie Foods: 

Fruits - Apples, blueberries, cantaloupe, cranberries, grapefruit, honeydew, lemons/limes, mango, papaya, peach, pineapple, raspberry, strawberries, tomato, tangerine, and watermelon. 

Vegetables - Asparagus, beet root, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, celery, chicory, hot chili pepper, cucumber, garden cress, garlic, green beans, lettuce, onion, radish, spinach, turnip, and zucchini.

  1. Whenever I feel the urge to eat becoming to much to bear, I get two pieces of sugar free gum and chew on those for as long as they last. They trick my body into thinking it's eating, and I don't feel hungry anymore. I usually try and make sure they are mint flavored, because I hate eating food after something minty has been in my mouth anyway. It's kind of the same affect as brushing my teeth if I want to eat, except it lasts as long as the gum lasts, and then some!
